Wow in a bad way is all i can say. Our Redman mfg. home. Built in 2006. We bought the existing home in 2018. Town is Athelstane, Wi. About half way up the state on the east side.
It has a attached garage that was built on site. Obviously built on site as the trusses well made from 2 x 4's, unlike the house.
The heater was coming on a lot in the winter. Wanted to add insulation so i opened up the gable end to see what we were dealing with. Can't believe what i was seeing. The entire trusss system is made out of 1 1/2" squares or smaller pieces. Where the osb attaches isn't even 1 1/2" thick. The bracing is 1 1/2" and smaller. Where the ceiling plaster board attaches is 1 1/2" or smaller. Looks like something that would be in a mobile home. The only place where there are any 2 x 4's is under the ridge or peek of the roof. The roof is a 4/12 pitch with a sloped ceiling or scissors type worsening the hazard. And there is only about 6" of blown insulation in the attic.
I can't believe the truss system and the insulation meets code for north east Wisconsin. We are in fear if we get 3 feet of snow that the roof is going to collapse either injuring or killing us.
Something needs to be done oe we are prepared to go to the next step.
