BCBSAL Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I move out of Alabama?
Your contract will cancel; coverage is for Alabama residents only.
Where can I find my Benefit Booklet after enrollment?
You can find your Benefit Booklet for your short-term plan by registering or logging on to your myBlueCross account. To register, go to AlabamaBlue.com/Register. Once you log in, you will find your Benefit Booklet under the “Research and Tools” section. You may also request a printed copy of your Benefit Booklet by calling us at 1-855-249-3659.
I am currently on a short-term plan. When can I re-apply for coverage?
If you know your short-term plan is ending, you can re-apply for coverage. However, once your current short-term plan ends, you will have a one-day gap in coverage before your new effective date begins. Medical underwriting will also be required each time you enroll. Please keep in mind that the current amount paid under the prior contract will not carry over to the new contract.
When will my short-term coverage begin?
You may choose when you would like coverage to begin, and you may request an effective date up to two months after the date the application is signed. However, your effective date may not be earlier than the date your application is approved by Blue Cross.
Will I get a new ID card?
You will receive a new ID card only if you are going from a single contract to a family contract. For example, if you and your spouse are on the same contract and you add a new dependent, you will not receive a new ID card. If you are on a single contract and add a dependent, you will receive a new ID card.
