Founder Cecil B. Day, before creating Days Inn, had worked in real estate in Atlanta, Georgia, where he built and developed apartment complexes. He also owned several locations of the fast food chains Jiffy Drive-In and Carrols in Atlanta. Day sold his holdings to Phipps Land Company for $14 million in 1969, the largest real estate transaction in the state of Georgia at the time.
Day founded Days Inn on Tybee Island, Georgia in 1970. He proposed the idea as a means of using a piece of land he owned on the island. When the first Days Inn opened, Day could not find maid service, so he had his children make up the rooms’ beds. Also, a truck that delivered furniture was too heavy for the bridge onto the island, so Day’s mother hauled furniture onto the island in her station wagon.

Late Last night, feb 7th, My fiancee & myself, checked into Days Inn in Wichita ks, on Kellog. The man whom checked us in, told us,&wrote down, our room #, & said "2nd building, 2nd floor"... After walking up & down the hall, we called front desk, he then said oh I ment "1st building, 2nd floor. ... So walked (freezing outside) back to 1st building, & our keys woulxnt work. Called front again.. The employ then came to where we waited on him for around 12min, to be told bed given that's the wrong room number, that it was actually in building 2 floor 2. The man was very gracious after having us run around for 45 minutes trying to get to our room. Said that the manager would take care of it in the morning
Once the manager arrived in the morning she would only give us a whopping $5 off. Toilet constantly ran, and the sink had a constant drip. Which all could have been overlooked if the manager would have been more gracious very rude. Wouldn't recommend to anyone All stuff could have been
