I have been a costumer with public storage for about 2 years I think. The storage unit has gotten more and more expensive and has been charging me an insurance fee even though months ago I sent proof of home owners insurance. Over the last few months I have looked for a smaller storage because the current one is too big and too expensive.3 weeks ago I called the location im carmel and told the manager I would be closing out before the next billimg day August 2nd. At this time I reserved a smaller cheaper unit at another puclic storage location.
Today August 1st, 1 day before my usual billing I went to the public storage locatiom in carmel to close, after I had moved half of my things out of storage the manager told me If I moved today I would be charged a full month ,and that I shouls have moved yesterday. I told him I was transfering to another public storage , and he said it didnt matter because they werent related.
I told him this seemed innapropriate especially since my billing was august 2nd, and during a pandemic schedules are restricted. I was moving today because Due to covid I had to make an appointment at the other storage today.
The manager then said that if I moved my things today I could get my money back in 3-5 days. So i spent all day moving and when I got to the other storage they told me that they could not move me in until I closed the other storage and paid August fees, I said I was not using the storage in august and that the manager said I would get my August money back. I told them I was closing but the other manager had said I could not close out until all my things were out. How is someone supposed to transfer things out of one to another like that?
At this time the second storage threatened that the other place would call a collection agency on me, INSPITE of him tellimg me that he would give me my money back im 3-5 business days.
At this time I went to the carmel storage, and started to get my last things out and the manager said that NOW since it's close to the end of the day he can no longer give me my money back. I told him that made no sense and asked him to explain, at which time he said he was going to give me my money back but then he found out I was going to another public storage, an because of that he cant give me my money back. This makes absolutely no sense, that I would be PUNISHED for continuing to do business with your company. So then he told me he could not close my account until I paid for the month of august which I did not USE the storage. I felt very unsafe at this time so I paid and left the store, since by this time he had already told multiple lies and I felt this was major extortion.
I am very concerned.
Do not rent a Storage unit from Public Storage due to there racist Buisness Practices,they will hold your goods ,Zip tie your Storage to prevent you from getting a head in your life if your a person of color,example - I owe punlic storage owed public storage no money and we notice how there gate hours are from 6:00am-9:00 pm. But! My gate hours are from 9:30am-6:00 pm. So you explain that scenario to me,easy to figure out that I'm the only African American that stores at this location-4820 Sanfernando Rd.Glendale,Ca. Office:(818)254-9942 . Little do they no there will be a law suit filed against Public Storage and there District Manager here in Glendale,Ca.his name is Felipe at (818)244-8080 extention#3010 or (707)595-8472. Also named in our Complaint ,Law suit is a Detective from the Glendale Police Department whoes name is Detective Burroughs in the Burgulary Department at (818)548-3127. Is it just me or do you think that a business should give you no customer service contacts . I've searched 10 numbers 4 of which the manager gave me and nothing just round and round you go. It is a pandemic after all do you think we should stand for late charges when millions & millions of people are out of work . All I asked is that you remind me a few days before because the bill is due I'm an essential worker - GO FUCK YOURSELF
My is Laura Cook I am very upset about being lock out of my storage unit since December of 2019 not able to get cloths to wear access to my property, I have been very inconvenienced . I was locked out of the gate twice . Talk to very bad by the property manager. I guess that's who they where , different people each time . And not getting anywhere with them . I am going to sue you . In the courts . In Houston . I never told I could buy a lock and pick my key up later once the lock is cut . I had the money then to pay . And wasn't told . The lied all the way through . It seems . I'm keeping record of things and did anyway . Even more now . Thank you Laura Cook .
I’ve been renting at a storage in Fort Pierce on US1 and I have to say it’s the worst place you can ever have a renting at! They’re prices keep changing every month like wtf !? Why keep changing the rate as if you’re being greedy for money!? I need to get my stuff out of this damn storage because money don’t grow on trees. Y’all are full of shit! I hate the people who’s over this storage because it doesn’t make any sense!
Garbage company, the worst storage company in the United State, don’t use this company, find a better one
This is the worst experience I've encountered to date. The customer service is beyond humiliating and unethical. The hidden fees and agendas are cancer to the community that they serve. I have contacted television media and the better business bureau to investigate the thousands of consumer complaints I've found. Please advise on who I can speak with from corporate office.
