I bought my Rheem electric water heater 3 years ago at Home Depot and it's working fine. I had one problem about 1 year after installation and the customer support at Rheem was great. (Make sure you register your product). They knew exactly what the problem was and sent me the part I needed with instruction instructions to put it in, and it worked out perfectly. When we installed it, as a homeowner my city allows us to run are own electrical, so I did that, and I had a plumber do the piping. It couldn't have gone smoother. I'd give them 5 stars, but it was a little disappointing that I needed to replace the part in it only after a year. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.

We have been attempting for five (5) days to register a Rheem A/C system on their website. We were unsuccessful when using a friend's computer and one at our local library. On 8 May 2023 we spoke to Rheem's customer service dept. and after several attempts at our neighbor's computer while on the phone with the service rep. we were unable to complete the registration process again. The service rep told us she could not take the information over the phone, and we would have to "find a computer to complete the process". This is totally unacceptable. We don't own a computer and cannot continue to annoy neighbors in an attempt to register this expensive air conditioning system. Very disappointed with Rheem.

Rheem Hybrid Performance Platinum Series heat pump water heater, 50 gallon: $2,800.00 ($3,200.00 installed)

I don't recommend this product. I 'upgraded' to this from my basic $500 electric water heater that came with my Ryan Home. It lived 11 years before it began leaking and we had to replace it. That 50 gallon never left us without heat and did well until it died. We upgraded as the numbers forecasted that we'd make the money up in 3 years, and we'd be saving money after that. The numbers made it look smart. However, we've got it maxed out to the highest temperature setting and we can't run two showers back to back without going completely cold. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten stuck with shaving in cold water after a shower now. This is running it in the Energy Saver Mode. as the more efficient modes don't even let us get the second shower completed without going cold. There's one higher mode, called "High Demand' mode. When I put it there, I can squeak out the shave with hot water too; I just have to remember to put it into that mode. Why don't I just leave it in that mode you ask? This is a hard answer, because it really shows the bad investment this product has been for our family. As it currently stands, running this unit at 'Energy Saver' Mode, set for 130 degrees, and barely getting two showers in with enough heat, keep my electric energy usage nearly identical to what it was with that old electric, basic, water heater. For example, this past month (January 2021) was a total of 1769 kilowatts. This same time last year (January 2020) was a total of 1729 kilowatts.... it's actually costing me more for this energy efficient, poor performing, expensive upgrade. Those kilowatts totaled $205.60 on 1/14/2020 and $210.05 on 1/13/2021. Long story short, this product was a horrible investment for us and I am putting this out here to save others from the same. The business has been amazing, as my review indicated above. They have worked with me several times to troubleshoot this water heater and have determined it functions as it should. As result, I was instructed to keep increasing the set temperature, assuming the old one must have been set high as well; however, to set it any higher now would be bypassing it's max setting and continue to increase the cost of this unit past what the old one cost to run. For the record, all other appliances in the house are the same as last year; nothing changed except the water heater. No changes in use, family size.. anything. If I could do it over again, I would have went with a basic electric water heater, like I had, and saved the $2,000.00 or more paid for the 'upgrade". I would have stayed with the business, however; their work and professionalism was, and is, top tier.
